HERBS

Many HERBS, such as Basil, Thyme, Cilantro, Parsley, Dill, Oregano, Sage, and I’m sure many others can grow at high elevation. Some of the herbs that are perennials in other locations are grown here as annuals, as they don’t survive the harsh winters.

BASIL

Basil is transplanted outdoors AFTER the last frost, and must be harvested prior to the first frost, usually the beginning of September. Also grown in the greenhouse.

Cilantro

Cilantro does VERY well, both in the greenhouse and outdoors. Watch to make sure it doesn't bolt, or there will be Cilantro "weeds" everywhere.

Thyme

Grown both in the greenhouse and outdoors (as an annual), I always have some Thyme on hand. It does not survive the outdoor winter.

Oregano

Oregano will survive some winters and come back the following spring, but sometimes perishes over the winter.

Sage

I've grown some large sage plants with beautiful flowers, both outside & in the greenhouse. It usually does not survive the winter.

Dill

I grow dill every year. It is supposed to "improve the flavor" of cabbage, although I cannot attest to that. It is an annual, and usually bolts early.

Parsley (Italian or Curled)

I typically grow 1-2 parsley plants, either Italian or Curled, both out & in. Easy to grow.
